WOLF CREEK GOLF CLUB
Ranked #5 Best Golf Course in Nevada. Ranked #59 in Golf Digest 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses in the U.S.
Since opening in 2000, golfers from all over the world have traveled to Wolf Creek Golf Club to experience a one of a kind golf adventure. Wolf Creek is a fantasy calendar come to life, with holes clinging to stark canyon hillsides and plunging down narrow ravines.
Standing on the first tee at Wolf Creek looking down several hundred feet to the fairway in the valley below only gives a glimpse of what is yet to come. The first question that comes to mind is “how did they ever build the course?”
The 360-degree vistas of red rock mountains, desert, mesas, steep cliffs and ravines would more likely be an environment to be explored on the Discovery Channel rather than the Golf Channel.
Wolf Creek is regularly mentioned as a bucket list course with other famous courses such as Pebble Beach, Bandon Dunes and Whistling Straits. The course was named Best New Course in 2002 by Golf Digest. For 10 straight years it was ranked in the top 100 of Americas Greatest Golf Courses you can play. -
BLACK DESERT RESORT GOLF CLUB
Black Desert Golf Course, located Ivins, Utah, is one of the most distinctive golf courses in Southern Utah. Designed by the late Tom Weiskopf in collaboration with Phil Smith, the par-72 course measures approximately 7,400 yards from the championship tees and is carved directly into a remarkable landscape of black basalt lava, red sandstone and desert vegetation.
The course opened for play in 2023 and was designed to take full advantage of its setting at the base of the Red Mountains, with dramatic views of Snow Canyon and the surrounding Greater Zion landscape. The juxtaposition of brilliant green fairways against the black lava rock gives Black Desert a visual identity unlike virtually any other course in the region.
From a golf-design standpoint, Black Desert emphasizes strategy, positioning and risk-reward decision making. The fairways are generally generous enough to encourage the use of the driver, but the natural lava formations create hazards that can make an errant tee shot costly.
One of the most impressive aspects of Black Desert is the way the golf course has been integrated into the natural landscape. Instead of clearing away the lava formations and desert terrain, the design incorporates them as an essential part of the course's architecture. Fairways weave between ancient lava flows, while black volcanic rock frequently frames the playing corridors and surrounds greens and bunkers. At the same time, the course has been carefully shaped to provide expansive views of the surrounding red-rock cliffs and mountains. The result is a course that feels distinctly connected to Southern Utah rather than a conventional resort course that simply happens to be located in the desert. -
FALCON RIDGE GOLF CLUB
Imagine towering tee shots from high plateaus to emerald carpets, framed by bright white-sand bunkers and sparkling lakes, and you have envisioned the fantasy-like Falcon Ridge Golf Course in Mesquite, Nevada.
The golf course is spectacular in design and challenging in nature. The front nine presents some pretty golf holes, and the back nine is simply outstanding golf.
A word of caution , there are some complicated, devious par fours that are short in distance yet tough on the scorecard. Holes nine, eleven and thirteen present blind tee shots off the tee, with white/black striped barber poles providing good targets on the fairways.
Just three sets of tees are utilized, with the tips measuring 6546 yards, the Silver tees 5976 yards, and the Golds 4821 yards. Bunkering is understated but effective, and although water is not often in play - when it is, the environment is spectacular. -
SAND HOLLOW GOLF CLUB
Ranked in Golf Digest 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses in the U.S. Ranked #1 golf course in Utah by Golfweek.
Sand Hollow Resort in southern Utah is home to one of the most visually striking golf courses in the American Southwest. Located near Zion National Park, the Championship Course is famous for its dramatic red rock cliffs, desert canyons, and panoramic views that make many golfers feel as though they are playing on another planet.
This par-72 layout opened in 2008 and stretches to more than 7,300 yards from the back tees. It has consistently been recognized as one of Utah’s top public golf courses and is ranked among GOLF’s Top 100 Courses You Can Play.
The front nine offers a classic desert golf experience with wide fairways, native sagebrush, red sand bunkers, and strategically placed elevation changes.
What truly separates Sand Hollow from other desert courses is its unforgettable back nine, especially holes 11 through 15, which run along towering canyon edges and cliffside ridgelines. -
THE LEDGES GOLF CLUB
The Ledges Golf Club is one of Southern Utah’s most visually striking golf experiences, set amid the dramatic red-rock landscape just north of St. George. Designed by Matt Dye, cousin to Pete Dye, the 7,200-yard, par-72 course takes full advantage of its spectacular setting. Rugged sandstone formations, desert vegetation and expansive views toward Snow Canyon State Park providing a memorable backdrop throughout the round.
Fairways wind through the natural desert terrain, while the greens and surrounding contours demand thoughtful club selection and precise approach shots. At nearly 7,200 yards from the back tees, The Ledges can provide plenty of challenge for accomplished golfers, while multiple teeing options make the course accessible to a broad range of players. The course is particularly appealing to golfers who enjoy destination courses where the landscape is as much a part of the experience as the golf itself.
The Ledges provides a distinctive introduction to the golf of the St. George region—and is a particularly good choice for golfers looking for a course that feels dramatically different from traditional resort golf. -
CORAL CANYON GOLF CLUB
Coral Canyon Golf Course, located just outside St. George, Utah is a 7,200-yard, par-72 championship layout designed by golf architect Keith Foster. Set in Southern Utah’s spectacular “Color Country,” the course is surrounded by the region’s distinctive red-rock cliffs and desert landscape, with views extending toward the dramatic terrain associated with Zion National Park and the surrounding canyons.
The setting gives Coral Canyon a distinctly Southwestern character, while the course itself is laid out across a varied piece of desert terrain that incorporates elevation changes, natural washes and native landscape into the design. From a pure golf perspective, Coral Canyon is a strategic and highly playable desert course.
One of the strengths of Coral Canyon is the variety built into the overall layout. The course moves through different elevations and settings, with the surrounding mountains and red-rock formations constantly changing the visual perspective.
For golfers traveling to the St. George area, Coral Canyon is an excellent representation of the region's distinctive desert golf. It offers considerably more than simply spectacular scenery—the combination of elevation changes, generous playing corridors, strategic hazards and unique green complexes gives the course genuine substance. For golfers looking for a course that combines challenging but approachable golf with the dramatic scenery of Southern Utah, Coral Canyon is a memorable addition to an itinerary. -
COYOTE SPRINGS GOLF CLUB
Coyote Springs Golf Club is a spectacular Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course set amid the wide-open desert landscape of Southern Nevada. The par-72 layout stretches to around 7,471 yards from the championship tees, offering an impressive combination of scale, strategic design and dramatic natural scenery.
Surrounded by distant mountain ranges, rugged desert terrain and native vegetation, the course feels wonderfully secluded. Its design takes full advantage of the expansive landscape, incorporating natural elevation changes, desert washes, extensive bunkering and water features to create a visually striking golf experience.
From a playing perspective, Coyote Springs rewards thoughtful course management and precise approach shots. The fairways are relatively generous, offering golfers several options off the tee, but undulating landing areas, strategically positioned bunkers and uneven lies make accuracy and club selection important. Eleven lakes introduce water hazards into the layout, while the large, heavily contoured greens demand careful attention to distance control and putting lines. -
CONESTOGA GOLF CLUB
This 18 hole scenic masterpiece is artfully interwoven with the character and contours of Sun City Mesquite’s spectacular landforms. Undulating through canyons with gently ascending and descending elevations, rugged rock outcroppings and tranquil water elements, the integrity of the land is preserved at every opportunity.
The masterful design and creativity of famed golf course designer, Gary Panks, provides this Mesquite championship course the appearance of being crafted by nature, forged over time.
Conestoga has it all... carpets of green weaving their way through the extreme desert terrain.. a fun factor that runs high in this part of Nevada... ample room off the tee and the ability to find and play your ball in the surrounding desert. Most of all, it has a distinctiveness that sets this region apart from other golf destinations. -
OASIS GOLF RESORT - PALMER COURSE & CANYONS COURSE
The Oasis Golf Club features two magnificent courses, the Palmer Course and the Canyons Course.
The facility is Mesquite's only 36-hole golf resort. The Palmer course was designed by Arnold Palmer in 1995. This par-71 course offers five different tees and some of the most scenic desert panoramas in Southern Nevada. It’s rugged canyon fairways and meticulous contour greens set this course apart as one of the best 18 holes you can play. The Palmer Course has been rated among the “Top 10 You Can Play” by Golf Digest.
The Canyon course at Oasis Golf Club is a unique design with a front and back nine having different layouts, designed by different architects. The front nine was designed by David Druzisky, an award-winning golf architect, in 2005 and the back nine was designed by Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay. The par 71 course offers breathtaking desert-style links. -
COPPER ROCK GOLF CLUB
Copper Rock Golf Club is one of Southern Utah’s newer and more distinctive golf experiences, located in Hurricane, just a short drive from St. George.
Designed by Dale Beddo and opened in 2020, the course is set against the dramatic backdrop of the red and copper-colored cliffs of the Hurricane Valley. The setting is quintessential Southern Utah, with expansive desert vistas, native vegetation, rugged mountains and brilliant blue skies creating a memorable backdrop throughout the round.
The golf course itself offers an interesting variety of holes and terrain. The front nine generally plays through a more open desert landscape, while the back nine introduces greater elevation changes and more dramatic views of Pine Valley Mountain and the surrounding cliffs.
Copper Rock places a premium on thoughtful shot-making, with strategically positioned bunkers, undulating greens and a number of risk-reward opportunities. Its combination of dramatic scenery, modern design, challenging but playable holes and proximity to Zion National Park makes Copper Rock an appealing addition to a multi-day golf itinerary in the St. George region.
