In the early part of the 20th century, Samuel F.B. Morse is challenged with making the Pebble Beach area an attractive real estate investment in order to find a buyer. He decides to create a one-of-a-kind golf course with unsurpassed beauty and an element of difficulty that will always be challenging.
Morse utilizes the extraordinary talent and vision of two great amateurs—Jack Neville and Douglas Grant—to design the course, and Pebble Beach Golf Links officially opens on February 22, 1919.
Welcome to Pebble Beach Golf Links, unanimously rated the No. 1 Public Course in the Country. Pebble Beach hosted its sixth U.S. Open in 2019, more than any other course over the last 50 years. Future championships include a first U.S. Women’s Open in 2023, and a seventh U.S. Open in 2027. Every February, the PGA TOUR visits for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, a tradition that began in 1947. -

Meandering among the sweeping sand dunes along 17-Mile Drive, The Links at Spanish Bay unveils some of the most spectacular seaside views in Pebble Beach. The rolling fairways move through and around the dunescape, before returning to the white sand of Spanish Bay Beach for a thrilling finish along the coast.
The Links at Spanish Bay requires precision and patience while negotiating sand dunes, pot bunkers, challenging greens and an ocean breeze. Robert Trent Jones, Jr., Tom Watson and Sandy Tatum teamed up to artfully craft a distinctly Scottish look, blending green and golden hues against a spectacular beachside backdrop to produce a memorable experience unlike any other in Pebble Beach. -

SPYGLASS HILL GOLF CLUB
18 holes, 72 par, 6960 yards
One of the most respected and revered courses in the world begins with one of the greatest opening stretches in golf: five spectacular sand-splashed holes that cruise up and down a sea of dunes while showcasing sublime oceanfront scenery and shots you’ve surely never seen.
But the defining characteristic of Spyglass Hill is how starkly the first five holes juxtapose the rest of the round. Incredible ocean views give way to the understated natural beauty of the Del Monte Forest, as the final 13 holes relentlessly examine your game with a litany of bunkers, ponds and uphill tests. Pine Valley-by-the-Sea meets Augusta National, as Sports Illustrated eloquently described it.
When the Robert Trent Jones, Sr., design was host to the 1999 U.S. Amateur, no player in the field was able to break 70, and the setup maxed out at a slope of 155. Bing Crosby famously bet that Jack Nicklaus wouldn’t be able to break par at Spyglass Hill the year it opened in 1966. Nicklaus shot a 2-under 70 in his first round, but Spyglass Hill has been a demanding, yet fair test for pros and guests alike ever since. -

This Top 100 golf course has challenged generations of golfers including Bobby Jones, Ken Venturi, Juli Inkster, and Tiger Woods and has an incredible and rich golf history. And the scenery is just incredible.
Designed by world-renowned architect Alister MacKenzie, architect of Augusta National and Cypress Point, Pasatiempo was his favorite design and where he made his home while in America.
It is classic California golf, wildly undulating topography, fairways cut through Monterey pines and towering eucalyptus trees and views that run for miles out across the Pacific Ocean. Pasatiempo absolutely delivers a memorable golf experience; it is truly one of the finest championship golf courses in the world.
The course has hosted the Western Intercollegiate for the past 65 years which features the top college players in the world. Pasatiempo has hosted USGA Championships including the 1986 U.S. Women’s Amateur and the 2004 U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur. -

POPPY HILLS GOLF CLUB

Poppy Hills is the newest golf course in Pebble Beach, California after undergoing an extensive 13-month renovation that was completed in April 2014. The original Poppy Hills was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., and opened in 1986. Along with Pebble Beach Golf Links and Spyglass Hill Golf Course, Poppy Hills co-hosted the PGA Tour's AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am from 1991 to 2009, replacing Cypress Point in the rotation.
The new Poppy Hills has been widely heralded since it reopened in 2014. Golf.com Travel Writer Joe Passov said the new Poppy Hills has a "Pinehurst-like touch, with just a hint of near-neighbor Cypress Point." Golf Getaways Travel Writer Vic Williams added about the new design, "at certain times it feels like Pinehurst, other times like Augusta, with dashes of Pine Valley." -

Since its initial opening in 1932, the Pacific Grove Golf Links has enjoyed a rich and storied history. The 18-hole layout, with a front nine that offers glimpses of Monterey Bay on fairways framed by Cypress trees, and an ocean-side back nine cut through windswept dunes reminiscent of a traditional Scottish links, has delighted visitors and locals alike for over 75 years.
The course was designed by a team of legendary golf course architects... Chandler Egan, who helped designed Pebble Beach Golf Links along with Alister Mackenzie and Jack Neville, designed the first nine at Pacific Dunes in 1929. Then, in 1960, Jack Neville was brought in to design and build the second nine.
Offering a fun-filled yet competitive challenge, and boasting an architectural lineage of elite proportions, The Pacific Grove Golf Links has won both local and national acclaim for its classic design. From the gently rolling fairways framed by Monterey and Cypress pines on its front nine to the dramatic ocean views and traditional links layout of its back nine, the Pacific Grove Golf Links is a true gem along the Monterey coast. -

BAYONET GOLF CLUB
This superbly manicured layout features long, cypress tree lined fairways with fast undulating greens, many of which are multi-tiered. Beautiful views of the Monterey Bay are located throughout this course.
Bayonet Golf Course is a PGA tour qualification venue and is regularly touted as one of the toughest courses in California, with a slope of 141 and a rating of 74.8. Destinations Magazine rated Bayonet as the 13th most challenging golf courses in the State of California. Golf Digest rated this course #71 under the category of "America's Top 75 Affordable Courses" in their list of "America's Best Golf Courses Everyone Can Play." -

The sister course to Bayonet Golf Club, this championship course features hilly and cypress-lined fairways with some of the most spectacular views of the Monterey Bay. The multi-tiered greens roll true leaving the approach placement the key to scoring.

DEL MONTE GOLF CLUB

Del Monte is a landmark course that has played an instrumental role in popularizing golf out West since its inception in 1897. The birthplace of the California State Amateur and the oldest course in continuous operation west of the Mississippi retains much of that classic charm today, challenging the game’s best golfers with its small, sloping, old-school greens. The venerable layout brings out of bounds into play on more than half its holes, and puts a premium on placing the ball below the hole with well-bunkered greens that are often pitched strongly from back-to-front.
Originally designed as a nine-hole course in 1897 by Charles E. Maud and expanded to 18 holes in 1902, Del Monte promptly attracted the game’s best players. The course’s Del Monte Championship was so highly regarded that many considered the champion to be the best golfer in the state. When the California State Amateur was founded in 1912, Del Monte was the natural choice to host it. Del Monte was also selected to host the 1916 Western Amateur, marking the first time one of the era’s biggest national amateur events was played west of Colorado. -
