Epic Golf Trip FAQ
Epic Golf Trip FAQ
Our best advice is to decide on your preferred trip and confirm the dates as soon as possible, especially if you’re planning on traveling overseas and/or during high seasons. During this time, the golf courses and hotels can have significant demand. The sooner we are able to submit your groups request for tee times and hotel rooms, the better the likelihood of securing your preferred schedule.
It varies by destination. High season (for golf) is as follows;
May – October.
During the summer season you will enjoy the best chance of good weather. However, Great Britain does experience changeable, unpredictable weather year round, so it is best to anticipate foul weather and plan accordingly. The popular Scottish and Irish courses are very busy during June, July and August so we suggest booking as early as possible, as early as the preceding year.
USA – Carolinas
March – May, October – November
July & August are the hottest. April, May and September are the best for perfect weather. Expect some thunderstorms in July and August.
USA – Florida
December – March
The summer months are hot with short but heavy rain storms during the hottest part of the day. However, most courses are less crowded and lower rates can be expected. October, November, February and March are perfect for golf. November, December and January are very mild but busy with snowbirds that come for the winter. Expect higher pricing.
USA – Monterey Peninsula
May – September
Moderate weather year round, never hot, never cold. Best to play in the summer if you want perfect weather. Expect fog anytime.
USA – Bandon Dunes
April – October
Always windy and never hot. Best months are June, July and August. Bring your wind and rain gear.
Some overseas golf clubs have handicap requirements for visitors. Where these exist we will inform you of such. The Old Course handicap stipulation is 24 or lower. We suggest you travel with your handicap card in your possession when golfing anywhere overseas.
They are available at all golf courses within the USA and at a certain few golf courses in Scotland and Ireland. We suggest you plan on walking when you book a trip to Scotland or Ireland. Most links courses are near the sea and fairly flat, so walking is easier. Parkland courses vary from flat to somewhat hilly, but not as hilly as many American courses. We happily provide all assistance in securing caddies at courses in Great Britain.
As part of our initial conversation with you, we discuss if and where you might require caddies. As part of our service, we contact the golf facility and make the reservations for you. Not all courses have caddies available, especially in the US. We will let you know what to expect at each course you might be considering. As of 2018, typical caddy fees in both the USA and Great Britain are $80 – $100 US per bag, per round, including tip. Some courses single loop, others double loop. The Old Course and most other Scottish and Irish courses tend to single loop, giving you the true caddy experience.
We offer trips either with a Concierge Driver or on a self-drive basis in rental cars and Mercedes minivans.
We will have an in-depth discussion specific to your trip needs and details. We will need a completed reservations form for each traveler to start. We also cannot confirm any reservations without a deposit from each individual.

Arrangements will be confirmed as soon as the last golf club confirms your exact tee time with us. We do not book final air travel reservations for our clients. We do, however, help with selecting the best airline for your particular destination. We also know the most economical airlines to use when booking your particular destination. We are happy to help with questions you may have, such as.. what airline might be best to a particular destination, what airport to fly in to, the best time to depart and arrive specific to your trip schedule, etc.
Our cancellations policies are defined on our reservations form and we would encourage you to read them in advance of booking your trip. In short, if you need to cancel, we will do everything we can to ensure that you are not hurt financially. Unless we have already paid deposits to golf courses, hotels or transportation companies, and find that they are unrefundable, we will usually be able to refund most or all monies.
We strongly suggest you purchase travel protection insurance. Many excellent options are easily found online with a quick Google search. It is a relatively inexpensive way to protect your financial investment in your trip and have peace of mind.

Provided, of course, there is availability of courses, hotels, rental vehicles, etc. This is part of our service to you, beginning with our initial phone conversation to your return home. While some golfers like to utilize hard side golf bag carriers, they do not store well once at your destination. We would suggest a travel bag like Club Glove or their “Stiff Arm” device, which is a collapsible device that keeps your woods protected.
